Can I upload a video I already have?
Yes. Upload an existing local video file. WebM, MP4, and MOV are supported. Screendog transcribes it with Whisper, writes AI notes, and files it into whatever folder you choose, exactly like a fresh recording.
How accurate is the transcript?
Transcripts are generated with OpenAI Whisper, the same model behind most commercial transcription tools. It handles accents and moderate background noise well; heavy crosstalk or very noisy audio lowers accuracy. The transcript sits next to the player on every share page, so anything unclear takes one glance at the video to confirm.
Where are my recordings stored, and who can see them?
Recordings are stored privately in cloud object storage and are only reachable through your workspace or a share link you create. Audio is transcribed with OpenAI Whisper. We don't sell or share your data, and you can delete any recording or your whole account at any time. Full details are in the privacy policy.
Can my teammates view recordings without an account?
Yes. Anyone with the share link can watch. No sign-up, no install, and no app.
How does Team plan pricing work?
Team is $69.99/mo for the first 4 seats. Each additional seat is $15/mo, added or removed automatically when you invite or remove teammates from the settings page. Stripe handles prorated charges. You only ever pay for the seats you actually use.
Can teammates comment on recordings?
Yes. Both Pro and Team plans include threaded, timestamped comments on every recording. Attach the current video time to any comment, then click that timestamp in the thread to jump straight to that moment. Replies keep discussion focused per topic.
Is Screendog here to stay?
Screendog is an independent product built and maintained by its founder. It's not backed by a VC fund with a growth or shutdown mandate. The product is actively developed, and your recordings are yours. You can export any transcript as Markdown and delete your account at any time.
